Tether, the creator of the largest stablecoin USDT, has announced a strategic investment in LayerZero Labs, a developer of cross-chain interaction technology. This move underscores Tether's commitment to supporting and strengthening the infrastructure that enables assets and applications to operate simultaneously across different blockchain networks, which is critical to the future mass adoption of cryptocurrencies and decentralized finance (DeFi).

The partnership is based on proven technology. Launched in 2025 based on LayerZero standards, the cross-chain stablecoin USDT0 has facilitated transactions worth over $70 billion in less than a year, demonstrating the effectiveness of the solution. The integration with Tether paves the way for the creation of new products for payments, settlements, and even autonomous AI agent operations.

The investment was made possible by Tether's outstanding financial results: its net profit for 2025 exceeded $10 billion.
