Tether has announced the launch of a non-Castoid tether.wallet application, which supports USDT, USAT and XAUT stablecoins as well as Bitcoin via the Lightning network. Wallet is based on the open WDK toolkit released in October 2025. At launch, assets are available on several blockchain platforms: USDT and XAUT on Ethereum, Polygon, Plasma and Arbitrum; USAT only on Ethereum; and BTC via Lightning Network. The list of supported chains is planned to be expanded.
The service’s key feature is the ability to transfer funds to the readable name@tether me type identifiers instead of cumbersome addresses. CEO Paolo Ardoino emphasized that the goal is to make moving digital values "as easy as sending a message," without intermediaries and with full control. Commissions are held in the forwarded asset, private keys are stored locally at the owner and all transactions are signed directly to the device.
B Tether noted that the new product opens up the company’s payment infrastructure directly to end consumers, not just serving as an inner layer for cryptocurrency.
