The American company Riot Platforms, one of the four largest public miners in the world, officially announced the sale of four thousand three hundred bitcoins for a total of two hundred and seventy-one million dollars. These funds were used to cover current operating expenses and actively expand its own data centers. These bitcoins were consistently sold in the period from April to June of this year. As of the first of July, eleven thousand three hundred and eighty bitcoins remained on the balance sheet of the organization, of which five thousand eight hundred and twenty-one coins are pledged under existing loan obligations. In terms of the total reserves of the first cryptocurrency, the company confidently ranks thirteenth in the global ranking of corporate bitcoin holders.
During the reporting quarter, Riot Platforms successfully mined one thousand five hundred and eighty-seven bitcoins, which is eleven percent more than in the same period last year. Then the production volume was one thousand four hundred and twenty-six coins. The average cost of mining one coin reached forty-nine thousand nine hundred and twelve dollars. Despite the noticeable increase in the physical production volumes of the first cryptocurrency, the company's total revenue from mining decreased by nineteen point three percent and amounted to one hundred thirteen million seven hundred thousand dollars. At the same time, the organization's net quarterly loss reached two hundred and thirty-seven million dollars. The company separately announced the conclusion of a large-scale twenty-year agreement with the developer of the popular neural network Claude, the company Anthropic. Riot Platforms provides one hundred and ninety-one megawatts of power to its farm in Rockdale, Texas, for high-performance computing in the field of artificial intelligence.
This deal reflects a trend observed in the industry where public miners are allocating resources between traditional cryptocurrency mining and servicing computing tasks. Earlier, analysts of the specialized on-chain platform CryptoQuant reported that over the past four years, large public miners have sold more than sixty-one thousand bitcoins for a total of about four and a half billion dollars. The company's proceeds from the sale are used to develop infrastructure for high-performance computing and neural network training. The market continues to monitor the further steps of the sector participants.
