The company officially introduced the new Claude Opus 5 language model, the functionality of which is approaching the level of the flagship Fable 5 system. The developers immediately provided access to the algorithm on all supported platforms, making it the default model for subscribers of the Max tariff. At the same time, the pricing policy remained unchanged relative to the previous version of Opus 4.8, amounting to five dollars per million input tokens and twenty-five dollars per million output tokens. Representatives of the organization claim that the new development sets updated standards in the assessment of programming skills and intellectual work, demonstrating comparable efficiency with a twofold reduction in computing costs.

The results of independent and internal testing confirm significant progress in system performance. In the Frontier-Bench v0.1 benchmark, the model more than doubled the performance of its predecessor at a lower cost of completing the task, and in the CursorBench 3.2 test, the lag from the peak values of Fable 5 was less than half a percent. The developers paid special attention to scientific computing: the algorithm demonstrated superiority over previous versions in all life sciences assessments, increasing accuracy in organic chemistry tasks by ten point and two point percentage points. In addition, in the OSWorld 2.0 test, which evaluates performance in computer system management, the new model surpassed the best historical results of flagship solutions.

In terms of information security, the company achieved the highest levels of compliance with internal regulations, recording a minimum level of uncoordinated behavior during an automated audit. For specialized cybersecurity tasks, the developers have purposefully relaxed the restrictions, but requests marked with security systems are redirected by default to the more conservative version of Opus 4.8. In parallel with the release of the main model, Anthropic launched beta testing of two functional updates: the ability to dynamically change available tools during a dialog without resetting the cache, and the mechanism for automatically switching to backup algorithms when working through a software interface.
