The founder of the decentralized exchange Uniswap, Hayden Adams, presented arguments in favor of why automated market makers should be at the center of the tokenization wave that has swept through global finance. Adams’s comments came amid Uniswap’s active efforts to secure a significant share in the race for tokenized stocks, which represent only a portion of the real assets in the blockchain, approaching four billion dollars, according to Cryptopolitan.

Adams’s main idea is that blockchains manage execution, storage, and settlement separately, whereas traditional market makers combine these functions into a single system. According to the founder of Uniswap, instead of concentrating participation in the project in the hands of a few established companies capable of handling all the necessary vertical integration, blockchain technology lowers the barrier to market entry. Automated market makers are in an ideal position, as they prefer closely related asset pairs, where passive liquidity is associated with lower risk and offers costs that compare favorably with those of large professional trading platforms.

Adams expects that the migration of assets to the blockchain will continue in the future, which will naturally lead to a reorganization of trading around related asset pairs, several cross‑chain routes, and will expand market access. The founder of Uniswap also predicts that passive strategies of automated market makers will start working in the same direction as index funds. Adams’ initiative followed his January disagreement with critics who called the insufficient compensation for liquidity providers a structural flaw. The founder pointed to the growth of Uniswap pools as proof that liquidity is easier to use as collateral than alternative options.

Adams’ arguments are based on data regarding deposits of real assets, which grew approximately sixfold over twelve months – from $650 million to $3.98 billion. The total volume of tokenized securities issued in this sector reached $34.55 billion. Uniswap is actively operating in the new global market, announcing support for more than 190 Robinhood stock tokens in its protocol. One pair of tokenized SPY tokens generated $33 million in twelve days. In July, the company introduced Permissioned Pools – a version four mechanism that restricts trading to wallets from an approved list of issuers; the launch partners were Securitize, Superstate, and Dowgo. At the time of publication of Adams’ post, the UNI token was trading at around $3.25, and its market capitalization was about $2.3 billion.
