The Japanese company Trusco Nakayama has introduced an unusual device to escape from the sweltering heat. The personal cabin for human cooling was named Do Hiemon Box and was released earlier this year. The developers describe the gadget as a personal cooling box that performs the functions of a refrigerator for people. The stainless steel structure is almost two meters high. There is a comfortable bench for sitting inside, and the door is made of transparent acrylic. Externally, the device resembles a personal sauna, but performs the exact opposite function. After the user sits inside, air is supplied to him, cooled to five degrees. The flow is directed at the neck and upper body of the person. Three different modes of temperature and blowing intensity are available. After twenty minutes, the device automatically turns off to prevent hypothermia.

The box weighs about two hundred and ninety-three kilograms and is mounted on wheels with latches. This allows you to move the device freely without special mounting. The gadget works both indoors and outdoors from a regular outlet. The product appeared in the midst of the exhausting summer season. Earlier, the Japan Meteorological Agency introduced a new term for particularly hot days. Days with temperatures of at least forty degrees are now called "kokusebi". This term translates as "extremely hot day" and was chosen by public vote. Extreme heat carries serious risks to human health. Heat diseases occur when the body loses its ability to effectively cool down. The consequences can be fatigue, nausea, headaches and muscle cramps. In the most severe cases, this leads to heat stroke and even death.

Fumiaki Matsubara, head of Trusco's product division, explained the concept of the device in a conversation with Bloomberg. The concept was not so much to provide a place to rest, as to prevent the aggravation of conditions. The company promotes boxes primarily for workplaces where people face high temperatures. Target customers include factories, warehouses, and construction sites. According to Bloomberg, Trusco has already sold about two hundred boxes at a price of one and a half million yen apiece. This amount is approximately nine and a half thousand dollars. Metallurgical plants, construction companies and golf clubs are among the buyers. Universities and a number of entertainment venues have also acquired the devices. It is not yet clear whether there are consequences from using such a personal refrigerator too often. The World Health Organization notes that heat stress remains the leading cause of weather-related deaths.
