According to the results of a study by the Ontario Securities Commission, the share of cryptocurrency owners in Canada increased from ten percent in 2023 to twenty-five percent in 2026. A survey conducted among 2,360 adults between December 2025 and January 2026 revealed that fifty-nine percent of respondents are aware of the existence of digital assets. Executive Vice-President of the commission, Naizam Kanji, noted that this growth indicates an increase in the availability of crypto tools for the general public, despite the continuing risks associated with market volatility and fraudulent schemes.

Canadian regulators are actively adapting their oversight approaches to anticipate new trends and potential threats in the emerging market. The Ontario Securities Commission emphasizes that identifying patterns of investor behavior allows for a balanced policy. This strategy is aimed at ensuring reliable protection of market participants while promoting the formation of fair and efficient trading platforms for digital financial instruments.

Against the background of growing demand, large crypto exchanges are expanding their presence in the Canadian financial market. In particular, the Coinbase platform is preparing to launch the "Exchange Everything" strategy, which will combine trading in cryptocurrencies, tokenized stocks and traditional financial products within a single mobile application. It is noteworthy that the terms of provision of these services to Canadian clients may differ significantly from the regulations in force in the United States, which reflects the specifics of local regulations.
