Strategy, the largest corporate holder of the first cryptocurrency, controls 840,447 BTC with an average purchase price of $75,285, according to the organization’s official website. Following the Bitcoin surge on August 19–20, 2026, this portfolio exited the unrealized loss zone for the first time since the end of May 2026.

Today, Bitcoin broke through the $79,000 level but failed to hold above it. The local high was $79,500. At this rate, the Strategy portfolio was valued at $66.81 billion, which means an unrealized profit of $3.45 billion at the peak on August 21. However, at the time of preparing this material, Bitcoin had fallen below $79,000 and $78,000. The asset is trading at $77,828, according to TradingView. In this case, the unrealized profit will already be about $2 billion. At the same time, in Q2 2026, the company’s loss amounted to $8.3 billion, most of which was due to losses from the revaluation of crypto assets.

The last purchase of Bitcoin by Strategy was back in late June 2026. The company added 520 BTC to its portfolio. At the same time, as Strategy CEO Fong Lee stated, the seven‑week pause in purchases is not related to the asset’s volatility. The last Bitcoin sale, in turn, took place on August 10, 2026 – 1,690 BTC. The company used the funds to repurchase securities, settle liabilities, and replenish the reserve.

Against the backdrop of Bitcoin’s growth, Strategy co‑founder Michael Saylor published a video featuring the “orange pill” narrative. In it, he explained why Strategy issues STRC dividend‑paying securities. According to him, most people are not ready for the idea of the constant growth of the first cryptocurrency and need a proxy solution that allows them to receive regular income without having to manage cryptocurrency assets themselves.
