The Trump Media Company & Technology Group (TMTG) has officially denied information about the sale of 2,628 units of bitcoin, the transfer of which was recorded by on-chain analysts on the Crypto com exchange. A representative of the organization, in a comment to The Block, stated that this transaction is not an asset sale, but an element of an internal capital management strategy. Earlier, the Lookonchain analytical platform marked this transfer as a potential sale, estimating the amount of funds at about $164.9 million at the current market rate. Similar actions of the company were already observed in May 2026, when TMTG also transferred 2,650 units of bitcoin to centralized platforms, accompanied by similar statements about the lack of intentions to sell assets.
Changes in the structure of the company's crypto portfolio are attracting increased attention from the financial community. In May 2025, TMTG announced plans to form a $2.5 billion bitcoin reserve, for which funds were raised through the placement of shares and bonds. By July of the same year, the volume of investments in the first cryptocurrency reached $2.0 billion, and the total number of purchased coins amounted to 11,542 units with an average purchase price of about $118,522 per asset. However, according to the Arkham Intelligence platform, the company currently controls only 4,261 bitcoins. The same amount appears in corporate reports as collateral for issued bonds, as the exact amount of free liquid crypto assets remains unknown.
The regular movement of digital assets to centralized crypto exchanges creates some uncertainty about the company's real liquidity. TMTG management insists that such transfers are an integral part of the approved strategy, but does not disclose the specific mechanisms or ultimate goals of these operations. This closeness generates discussions among investors and analysts, as the large-scale reduction of the portfolio from 11,542 to 4,261 coins over a seven-month period significantly changes the initial risk profile of the organization. Given the high volatility of the digital asset market, transparency in the management of corporate reserves is becoming a critical factor in maintaining shareholder confidence and assessing the issuer's real financial stability.
