The native token of the Telegram blockchain project Toncoin has officially been renamed to Gram with a GRAM ticker on large cryptotubes. On June 15, the token rose by about 5%, reaching $1.81. Developers emphasize that users do not need to take any action - the automatic transfer of balances from $TON to GRAM will be performed at the system level, and any suggestions to exchange tokens are considered fraud.

Although large exchanges have notified customers of the rebranding in advance, exchanges like Binance, Coinbase, and OKX still use the old $TON ticker. The renaming has already happened on Coingecko. Originally, the Telegram Open Network was called Gram during ICO 2018. Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced plans to return the name on June 1, calling the process a "return to the roots". Rebranding was supported by 81.2% of participants.

Earlier, in early May, Durov announced that the messenger would take over the management of the crypto project from the $TON Foundation, promising to reduce commissions on the network by a factor of six and turn token into a mass product.
