Uniswap has launched pools with limited access for trading regulated digital assets

Uniswap Labs has officially announced the launch of a new feature in the Uniswap v4 protocol called "Pools with Access Rights". This update allows issuers of tokenized funds and securities to trade exclusively with pre-approved wallets, making automated market maker technology available for highly regulated assets for the first time. The implementation of the function is based on the use of the "hook" version 4, a special plugin that allows developers to implement their own rules into the pool without having to modify the basic Uniswap system. At the same time, regulated tokens are stored in a separate smart contract with an access control mechanism, while the pool itself operates a new transaction accounting system.
Ken Ng, Head of the Uniswap Labs Ecosystem Department, described this standard as the next stage in the evolution of blockchain technologies, allowing issuers to set their own rules for compliance with regulatory requirements without the need to create proprietary trading systems. The first innovation partners were Superstate, Securitize, and the European digital securities platform Dowgo, which integrates the ERC-3643 standard as part of the European Union's DLT pilot regime. Robert Leshner, CEO of Superstate, noted that this solution removes a key market barrier: compliance rules now apply directly within the pool, which allows regulated assets to access AMM liquidity without losing control over token holders.
This launch is part of a large-scale industry trend to transfer regulated real assets to the blockchain infrastructure and adapt decentralized finance for institutional investors in need of increased control. Management companies such as BlackRock, Apollo, Franklin Templeton, and VanEck are already actively developing tokenized funds. Uniswap predicts that this market could reach $11 trillion by 2030. As a confirmation of the growing interest of traditional finance in decentralized protocols, the BlackRock BUIDL money market fund began trading on Uniswap back in February, and the corporation itself also acquired $UNI tokens, which currently have a market capitalization of about $3.15 billion.
