The University of Kansas has integrated the XRP cryptocurrency into the branding of its sports programs as part of a multi-year partnership with Ripple signed in July. The XRP logo is now displayed on the uniforms of all the university's athletic teams — marking the first time a cryptocurrency has appeared on the jerseys of athletes at a major collegiate sports institution. The partnership became public on September 7, when the official Kansas Football account posted a video from their home game in which the XRP logo was visible. This came three days after the Jayhawks' crushing 51–6 victory over Long Island University, which opened the 2026 season. At David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, the Kansas team put on a dominant performance, racking up 613 yards of total offense while holding their opponent to just 146 yards. Quarterback Isaiah Marshall threw for 246 yards with two touchdowns and added 49 rushing yards, as reported by U.Today.
Ripple's collaboration with the University of Kansas extends well beyond simply placing a logo on uniforms. The company has committed to supporting financial and technology education programs for the university's athletes and the broader student community. Ripple will also help establish a channel connecting Kansas alumni with employers in the technology sector. Notably, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse is a University of Kansas alumnus and a native of Topeka, Kansas. The partnership was organized in conjunction with Jayhawk Sports Properties — the local division of Learfield, a media company specializing in collegiate sports. On September 2, the University of Kansas launched the Rock Chalk Fan Club, an online fan community positioned as being "powered by XRP." The platform gives members access to exclusive content, merchandise purchasing opportunities, and other perks.
Ripple's expansion into partnerships with higher education institutions is not limited to Kansas. On September 4, it was announced that the University of Florida had reached its own multi-year agreement with Ripple, which includes XRP branding on the Florida Gators team beginning with the 2026 season. The XRP logo has been placed on the field at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, and cryptocurrency visual elements will be integrated into Florida Athletics' digital channels. Ripple will also support financial and technology education programs for Florida's athletes. These partnerships with major universities reflect Ripple's broader strategy of leveraging sports marketing to boost XRP brand recognition among younger audiences and promote financial literacy.
