Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Boutherin suggested that the community find an anonymous document he wrote using artificial intelligence tools. The text has been published over the last ten years and is described as being of medium importance for an ecosystem. Boutherin does not reveal details, but notes that among 200-2000 similar documents the task may be non-trivial even for modern AI models.
The experiment is intended to test whether AI-based stylistic algorithms can de-anonymize an author by style of writing, choice of words and sentence structure. Boutherin became the ideal candidate for such a test, leaving a vast digital footprint over the years - from technical articles to panel discussions. At the same time, a programmer is willing to sacrifice his anonymity in order to demonstrate potential threats to privacy.
Lately, Boutherin has been actively exploring AI-related security and privacy issues. He warned about the risks of data leaks through cloud services and the theoretical threat of uncontrolled AI. However, the developer also recently recognized that AI can make it easier to find vulnerabilities and write code, which can enhance security for blockchain and decentralized applications.
