Whales Continue to Accumulate Bitcoin Despite Weak Price

Despite recent issues with Bitcoin prices, some major market participants, known as whales, continue to actively accumulate BTC. According to fresh data from Lookonchain, since October 1, 40 new addresses have withdrawn over $770 million in Bitcoin – 9,458 BTC – through the Wintermute platform. This indicates that large players are not abandoning their positions despite the challenging market situation.

Earlier research by CryptoQuant indicated that whales resumed accumulation after several months of selling. During this period, the price of Bitcoin recovered from less than $62,000 in early August to $87,000 in September. At that time, large addresses held just over 3 million BTC – the highest level since November 21, 2025. One of the recent reports stated that these major players acquired nearly 89,000 BTC in just one month.

Nevertheless, Bitcoin price movements in recent weeks have been lackluster. Despite expectations of growth in October, the price failed several times to surpass the $87,000 level and eventually fell below $80,000. A recovery to $85,000 this week was soon interrupted by worsening macroeconomic factors. Over the next 36 hours, the price of Bitcoin dropped by more than $3,000 and is now less than $82,000.

Thus, the picture remains mixed: the accumulation by large holders continues, but the price dynamics have yet to confirm a sustainable reversal. Data from Lookonchain and CryptoQuant record whale activity, but they do not provide grounds to assert that the price will follow suit.
