World Liberty Financial Launches Native Version of USD1 Stablecoin on Canton Network

World Liberty Financial has announced the launch of a native version of the USD1 stablecoin on the Canton blockchain network. The new token variant is designed for use in transactions involving tokenized real-world assets and is intended primarily for institutional financial use cases. USD1 can be used as a settlement asset in transactions, including collateral for derivatives, institutional lending, and the issuance and redemption of tokenized instruments. The launch took place on August 25 and extends the stablecoin's presence within infrastructure oriented toward traditional financial assets.

The native issuance of USD1 on Canton enables transactions involving the stablecoin and tokenized assets to be executed within a single blockchain transaction. The network's infrastructure includes privacy mechanisms and access controls designed to meet the requirements of institutional financial market participants. This format allows the digital dollar to be used directly in settlements between parties involved in transactions with tokenized securities and other financial instruments, without separating the asset transfer and monetary settlement processes across different networks.

According to World Liberty Financial, the issuance and redemption of USD1, as well as reserve management, are handled by BitGo Bank & Trust. The stablecoin is backed by reserve assets including short-term U.S. government bonds, government money market funds, and dollar deposits. USD1 was launched in March 2025, and following integration with Canton, it has gained an additional use case within tokenized financial asset infrastructure.

Canton is a blockchain infrastructure focused on institutional financial operations and tokenized assets. According to the network's developers, monthly transaction volume involving such assets exceeds $9 trillion, while the daily volume of tokenized U.S. Treasury bond transfers surpasses $350 billion. The expansion of USD1 support is taking place against the backdrop of Canton's continued development and a growing number of projects aimed at migrating traditional financial operations into blockchain environments. The stablecoin integration adds a digital settlement instrument to this infrastructure that can be used simultaneously with tokenized assets within a unified transaction system.
