XRP Dropped More Than 2% Under Bearish Pressure in Futures

The cryptocurrency Ripple (XRP) declined more than 2% this week amid growing bearish pressure in derivatives markets. According to derivatives position analysis, long positions in XRP are significantly lagging behind short positions, which limits the price recovery potential. On Thursday, the token was trading around $1.392, remaining under pressure from a combination of factors: supply dominance in the spot market, a negative funding rate, and weakening momentum.

Derivatives data reflects an overtly bearish sentiment among traders. The long-to-short ratio dropped to 0.83 on Tuesday, approaching a monthly low. A reading below 1.0 means there are more short positions than long ones, indicating that the majority of traders are betting on a price decline. The XRP funding rate also turned negative on Wednesday, coming in at minus 0.0012% on Thursday, reinforcing the bearish signal: short position holders are receiving payments from long position holders. On-chain data from CryptoQuant further points to selling dominance, while the Relative Strength Index (RSI) has shifted to the middle of the 50–60 range, suggesting a weakening of bullish momentum without its complete disappearance. The MACD line remains below the zero mark, signaling a fading of upward momentum.

XRP's technical support level runs along the 200-day exponential moving average (EMA) near $1.354. If the price falls below this level, the token could test horizontal support at $1.300, followed by the 50- and 100-day EMAs. The next significant downside target is located near $1.000. To the upside, XRP faces major resistance near $1.900; a daily close above that level would be needed to restore stronger bullish momentum. Until then, weakening demand in derivatives and fading momentum will keep the token under pressure in the moving average zone.
