Zcash Celebrates 10th Anniversary Since Launch

Zcash (ZEC) marks 10 years since its launch in October 2016 – long before most people started worrying about AI and quantum computers. After a powerful rise, its price became one of the most discussed assets in cryptocurrencies.
Zcash was created to send money privately. The main tool is shielded transactions, which hide the sender, receiver, and amount. Early versions were slow and inconvenient; over the years, the team fixed this with 10 major network updates.
Overwinter laid the foundation for subsequent changes. Sapling made shielded payments fast enough for mobile phones. Blossom halved block time to confirm payments faster. Heartwood and Canopy improved the network and its funding. NU5 with the Orchard pool removed the need for a trusted setup – an important step, as early users had to trust the group that created the original system. NU6 and updates NU6.1, NU6.2, and NU6.3 continued to enhance the protocol. The update path now ends at Ironwood.
The price history is no less extensive. On the daily ZEC/USDT chart, the coin traded between approximately $400 and $550 during the summer. At the end of August, it broke upwards and continued to rise, reaching nearly $1,700 by the end of September. After the peak, the price fell below $1,100 in mid-October, then recovered.
At the time of publication, ZEC is trading around $1,308 and has returned above the short-term moving average; the last daily candle is strong and green. Support is evident: the blue average around $1,200 has held the price several times in October. The next support is around $1,050, with deeper support around $820. RSI is around 55: the market is neither overheated nor weak. Trading volumes since the peak remain low, meaning buyers have not yet returned in large numbers.
The first resistance is the recent high around $1,370. Closing above it could pave the way back to $1,500. If the price loses $1,200, traders might expect another test of $1,050.
A private coin with a 10-year history is a rarity: many projects start with big promises and fade away. Zcash continued to build, update after update, as demand for privacy grew alongside concerns about AI and data tracking.
