In a recent post on X, Zcash co-founder Eli Ben-Sasson reaffirmed his optimistic outlook on the ZEC token. According to him, the $2,000 level is a "given," and in the long term, he envisions a target of $5,000. He commented on the potential price of ZEC in 2026.
Ben-Sasson shared a screenshot from OffMarket, a privacy service by Starkware, which allows trading on Polymarket without publicly linking positions to accounts. The screenshot showed probabilities regarding "what price Zcash will reach in 2026," as well as a bet on reaching $2,000 by the end of the year. The co-founder mentioned that he had previously predicted $5,000 somewhere, but considers the $2,000 level a simpler target, hence he placed a bet on OffMarket, a platform he referred to as a "VPN for privacy on Polymarket."
Zcash reached a high of $1,696 on September 26 after several months of growth and then began to decline. At the time of writing, the token had decreased by 10.23% over the day to $1,098: selling pressure increased in the crypto market following inflation data on Wednesday, which raised concerns about a Fed rate hike this month. To reach $2,000, ZEC would need to rise more than 82% from the current price.
Amid the decline, Zcash fell below the key support of the 50-day moving average (MA 50), which had supported growth in August 2026. A return above this level, according to the author's technical scenario, could allow bulls to retest the $1,300–1,400 range, after which a move to $1,700 and then to $2,000 might be possible.
According to Santiment, from September 15 to 26, 2026, ZEC rose by approximately 48%, but by October 14, it had retraced almost all of this growth. Open interest in coins reached a peak of 1.60 million ZEC, but by October 14, it was 2.5% below the level of September 15. Social volume peaked at 671 mentions, but on October 14, there were only 50 mentions, the quietest day since September 2. Santiment noted that the price continued to rise, exceeding $1,650, but with less attention and lower leverage.
