Former employees of Electric Coin Company announced the creation of an independent organization called Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL). At the same time, the team rebranded its flagship wallet: the Zashi service will now operate under the name Zodl.

The developers emphasized that the changes are organizational in nature and will not affect users. Wallet owners will not need to install a new application, transfer funds, or create a new seed phrase. The update will happen automatically — when the next version is released, the name Zashi will be replaced with Zodl on all official channels, including the Discord support service.

The relaunch is related to the events of January, when the entire ECC team left the company due to internal conflict. According to former CEO Josh Suihart, part of the Bootstrap Foundation's board of directors acted contrary to the project's original mission. According to the developers, the new structure should ensure the further development of the protocol and the promotion of ZEC without dependence on the previous management model and development fund.

ZODL noted that key engineers and product specialists who have worked on Zcash for years continue to participate in the development of the ecosystem.
