The joint venture between OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent company of the New York Stock Exchange, named OKXICE, reported receiving 16 notices of objections from issuers. The updated notice on Monday mentions Microsoft, Alphabet, Google's parent company, and Goldman Sachs. Specific reasons for contacting OKX were not specified. One expert commented to Cointelegraph, suggesting that they might be related to misunderstandings about what will happen with the price on the proposed platform.
On Tuesday, OKXICE co-chair and former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo told Cointelegraph that these notices are not objections. According to him, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is paving the way for a global market operating 24/7. Cuomo compared the situation to companies standing at the edge of a pool, allowing others to jump in and experience the OKXICE tokenized stock model. He added that many companies will say they don't want to be the first and prefer to watch how things unfold. In his opinion, such behavior is to be expected 100 percent, and there will be more such companies.
Earlier this month, when filing documents with the SEC, Cuomo stated that the platform would offer stocks of more than 60 companies listed on U.S. exchanges. Of the 62 proposed companies, about 25 percent expressed objections. According to OKXICE, the platform will operate 24/7 using authorized Uniswap v4 liquidity pools deployed in XLayer. Each tokenized stock will be paired with one of three stablecoins: USDT from Tether, USDC from Circle, or Global Dollar (USDG).
