Cardano (ADA) is trading below $0.220 after an unsuccessful attempt to hold above the 50-day exponential moving average. The ADA price continues to be under pressure: it is below the 50- and 200-day EMAs, maintaining a bearish short-term outlook. Currently, the price is hovering just above the 100-day EMA at $0.220, making this level an important support zone. Weak positioning in derivatives and low buyer momentum indicate a lack of sufficient strength to change the current downward trend.
According to CoinGlass, on Thursday, the long-to-short ratio for Cardano was 0.96, with key insights from the review noting 0.79 as close to the lowest in over a month. This figure indicates the prevalence of short positions in tracked accounts and caution regarding ADA's recovery prospects. Cardano's funding rate turned negative on Wednesday, reaching −0.0025% on Thursday, meaning short holders are paying longs. Data from CryptoQuant also confirms seller pressure: the platform noted large whale orders, overheated conditions in the futures market, and the dominance of sales in both spot and futures. The presence of large orders alone does not set the direction; however, their presence alongside significant selling activity reinforces a cautious backdrop as ADA continues to face overhead resistance.
ADA momentum indicators continue to show caution. The Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains in the low 40s, below the neutral level of 50. The MACD remains negative, indicating weakening bearish pressure without a confirmed reversal. The first support remains the 100-day EMA around $0.220; a sustained break below will shift focus to the level around $0.210. If selling continues to $0.210, the next support may be in the $0.170 area. On the upside, the first barrier is the 50-day EMA around $0.228–0.230; above that is horizontal resistance around $0.236 and the 200-day EMA around $0.240. For now, the ability to hold $0.220 remains central to the short-term ADA outlook, while bearish positioning in derivatives and low momentum limit recovery attempts.
