The Cardano blockchain showed a 33% increase in network activity, processing 32,841 transactions over the course of August 20. The average block creation time was 20.2 seconds, with an average transaction processing speed of 0.38 trades per second, according to data from the Chainspect platform. Since its launch in September 2017, the Cardano blockchain has processed approximately 123.02 million transactions.

In addition to the growing number of transactions on the network, Cardano is also seeing high developer activity. Researchers at Chainspect have recorded 303,143 commits on the network — these are changes or updates to the protocol code that developers make to the repository. The large number of commits indicates active efforts to improve and develop the network. For comparison, the Polkadot project significantly outpaces all blockchains in terms of developer activity, with more than 701,000 commits. There are more than 520,000 commits recorded on Ethereum, while the Arbitrum and Optimism networks account for 200,000 and 182,000 commits, respectively.

The total amount of blocked TVL funds on the Cardano network has increased by 6.05% over the past 24 hours to $58.01 million. The trading volume of ecosystem tokens on decentralized exchanges has increased by 22.42% over the past week, reaching $9.15 million, according to DeFiLlama. Over the past 24 hours, the ADA cryptocurrency’s price has risen by 13% to $0.2139, amid the overall growth of the crypto market. Currently, ADA’s market capitalization is $7.8 billion, and the daily trading volume of the cryptocurrency has grown by 52% to $857.6 million.

Recently, the Cardano developers published a schedule for the Dijkstra update, which is to be launched in two stages. First, it is planned to deploy the Ouroboros Linear Leios (CIP-164) function to increase the network’s throughput, and then move on to the Ouroboros Peras (CIP-140) update to speed up transaction processing on the blockchain. These technical improvements should significantly boost the network’s performance and strengthen Cardano’s position among the leading blockchain platforms.
