Chainlink Introduces 24/7 Pricing for Tokenized Stocks

Chainlink launches Chainlink 24/7 – a service that supports stock prices, commodities, and other traditional assets on weekends and holidays. The first partner is Aave, the largest DeFi lending protocol by TVL.
How it works
Oracles deliver data from the external world to smart contracts. On weekdays, Chainlink 24/7 uses data from regular and extended sessions, including pre-market, post-market, and overnight trading. When traditional markets are completely closed, the service switches to aggregated perpetual futures quotes – derivatives without an expiration date that trade around the clock. Data is transmitted through Data Feeds and Data Streams: one integration instead of manually assembling multiple feeds.
Why this matters to Aave
Aave will apply the feeds on Horizon, its institutional lending platform, for continuous collateral assessment from tokenized assets, starting with highly liquid US stocks. Lending protocols constantly check if the collateral covers the loan. If the price of a tokenized stock freezes from Friday evening to Monday morning, the protocol effectively does not see the market all weekend. Aave has already used Chainlink's infrastructure, including 24/5 streams, so weekends are a logical extension.
Context
Chainlink 24/5 US Equities Streams appeared in 2026; since January 2026, the coverage supports prices of over $1.6 billion in tokenized assets across six blockchain networks. Partners include Ondo, xStocks, Robinhood, and Coinbase.
Open questions
Weekend pricing relies on perpetual futures – a different market than the exchange itself. How accurately these quotes predict the opening of a stock on Monday depends on whether protocols will trust the weekend price. It is also worth monitoring how quickly Horizon expands beyond the initial set of highly liquid US stocks.
