Citigroup Updates Bitcoin and Ethereum Forecast Amid Favorable Conditions

Citigroup has increased its 12-month Bitcoin forecast to $113,000, up from the previous $82,000, and its Ethereum forecast to $3,028 from $2,240. These changes are attributed to the renewed inflow of funds into exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and favorable economic conditions.

According to Citigroup, cryptocurrency investment products are expected to attract $5 billion next year as financial advisors and brokers gradually increase their Bitcoin allocations. Despite a net outflow of $5.8 billion from U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs as of July 13, this trend reversed in the following months, with net inflows of $800 million recorded by the end of September for 2026.

The cryptocurrency market demonstrated resilience following the Senate's rejection of the Clarity Act on September 15, with Bitcoin rising more than 10% by the end of the month. Citigroup cited the U.S. Treasury's decision to buy long-term bonds as a factor that helped revive momentum in the crypto market, pulling it out of a months-long stagnation where it lagged behind other risk assets. With the revised forecast, Bitcoin is now expected to reach $113,000, and Ethereum $3,028.
