Cohere Inc. has unveiled North 2 – an updated platform for managing AI agents in large organizations. The announcement was made on October 5, 2026. In addition to a revamped orchestration system for multi-step agent workflows, the update provides administrators with new tools for controlling token spending.
Cohere describes the challenge as follows: enterprises deploying agents sacrifice one of three – security, capabilities, or cost control – in favor of the other two. North has been publicly available since August 2025, and a year of significant industrial implementations in finance and the public sector has laid the groundwork for this update. The orchestration system autonomously executes multi-step tasks and involves a human at steps requiring approval. Agents created from simple requests can now be distributed across the company, preventing other teams from rebuilding the same workflow. Each agent retains memory between sessions. A skills feature has been added – packaging logic that agents refer to repeatedly. Shared libraries contain documents and resources accessible to every agent.
From a natural language request, North 2 can create a presentation, dashboard, or lightweight application right in the chat window. For repetitive processes, there are ready-made templates and a drag-and-drop workflow builder with real-time performance reporting. The connector library covers Slack, GitHub, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Connectors to PitchBook, S&P Global, and FactSet are planned. New spending control tools are available in North Admin. The platform tracks token usage down to individual users and agents, allows setting consumption levels for groups and users based on requests and tokens, limits overall usage, and configures alerts before reaching the limit. North 2 is model-agnostic: administrators can assign external models to teams, not just Cohere.
