Coinbase Plans to Resume Coinbase Pro Operations by Year-End

Coinbase has announced plans to resume operations of its platform Coinbase Pro by the end of the current year. The platform will support trading in spot, futures, perpetuals, options, and stocks. Additionally, Coinbase has completed integration with Deribit, which it acquired last year for approximately $2.9 billion in August 2025. The integration led to the creation of Coinbase Global Exchange. The company announced this at the Token2049 event in Singapore.

Coinbase Financial Markets, a division of the company regulated in the U.S. as a futures commission merchant, will soon connect eligible American clients with global crypto derivatives liquidity. "For the first time in market history, we are connecting American and international derivatives markets into a single liquid pool," stated Coinbase. According to the company, guidance from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission issued in May allows Coinbase Financial Markets to connect American clients with global crypto derivatives markets. This provides institutional clients in the U.S. with a regulated way to access options and perpetuals, which previously required offshore structures, multiple counterparties, and separate trading venues. After completing the integration, the company plans to deploy Deribit-based options, spot margin, and unified portfolios in the coming weeks. American institutional clients will be able to trade Deribit options and perpetuals through Coinbase Prime. Eligible traders outside the U.S. will gain access to options in the coming weeks, with American retail traders later this year. Institutional clients will be able to trade spot, futures, perpetuals, and options, as well as utilize custody, financing, and staking on a single platform.

Coinbase Pro, according to the company, will be "rebuilt from the ground up" and will offer faster order routing, improved execution flows, and advanced tools for active traders with large volumes executing complex strategies. The company closed the original Coinbase Pro in 2022 after migrating advanced trading to the main app, with the transition to Coinbase Advanced completed in November 2023. Coinbase will also add spot margin trading, allowing eligible traders to borrow against collateral, with leverage up to 10x on certain large assets and up to 5x on other supported assets. The company has added a new matching engine, streamlined the onboarding process, and changed the fee tiers for Coinbase Advanced. The new tiers start at $10,000 of qualifying volume and account for both spot and derivatives.
