The trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 featured a glimpse of Dacity Coin, sparking speculation among crypto traders about the potential significance of this meme coin in the game. Some believe it will appear in a few side missions, while others think it will become a fully tradable in-game asset. In response, crypto enthusiasts created an unofficial meme token with the same name on Solana, driving its market cap to a peak of $15 million. Traders are essentially betting on how prominent Dacity Coin will be in GTA 6: they hope that deep integration will bring more profits, even though the token has no official ties to the game.
"I think there will be missions with Dacity Coin where Lucia will need to promote it to earn money," a trader using the pseudonym Nicstho told Decrypt. "That's the classic version."
This is supported by a gameplay leak posted over a week ago by the well-known Rockstar hacker "Cyberleek." According to GTA wiki, Lucia is asked to skydive to attract investments in Dacity Coin. "Put on a show for them. They'll buy Dacity Coin before they even know what it is," someone tells her over the phone during the mission, according to a leaked screenshot. In the official trailer, a stuntman on the wing of a plane with Dacity Coin logos launches a smoke grenade. This led some traders to believe that the coin will appear in several missions where players will have to perform crazy stunts to boost the token, much like real meme coin traders have done.
Dacity Coin is also linked to the in-game brand AudaCity, which appears in both the leak and the trailer alongside the coin. According to GTA wiki, AudaCity is the company behind Dacity Coin.
Some traders believe the coin's role will extend beyond a few side missions. According to Nicstho, the bullish version is Dacity Coin as an in-game currency that can be spent in both single-player and multiplayer modes; for the real token on Solana, this would be huge, despite the lack of official connection between them. "I think it will be tradable just like stocks in GTA V," a trader using the pseudonym Corey Ape told Decrypt. "In the last GTA, you could buy stocks from missions, probably the same here." He admitted this is purely intuition, but there is logic: in GTA V's single-player campaign, players invested in stocks to get rich quickly, with entire guides created for this purpose.
"Obviously, Rockstar hasn't released a real coin," Nicstho said. "They just want to outplay meme coin traders."
