David Schwartz Demonstrated a Physical Card Game Based on XRP

David Schwartz, former CTO of Ripple, posted a photo on X showing him unpacking physical boosters of the card game Fuzzy Cards in his kitchen. Schwartz thanked the senders and mentioned the project's official account. This event highlighted the management's interest in a physical game based on XRP, which was previously unknown to the broader trading community. Initially, on January 1, 2014, an order to exchange 1 XRP for 1 BTC was placed on the decentralized XRPL exchange, which remained unfilled. In early 2025, the community launched the meme token FUZZY as a tribute, which by October 2026 has over 11,500 holders.

Swiss publisher XPUNKS GmbH released the first trading card game in the XRP ecosystem. The initial series includes 150 unique cards divided into five factions, about 60 of which are produced in holographic format. The distribution of cards is linked to a hybrid on-chain mechanic: users purchase digital packs in NFT format (XLS-20 standard) and burn them through a special portal to receive the physical version. After the burn is recorded on the blockchain, a sealed paper booster with 5 random cards is sent to the user.

To date, owners have burned about 100,000 booster packs. According to Kai Leroy, the process is developing against the backdrop of a bull market, largely unnoticed, in the sector of hybrid Web3 projects, where demand is shifting towards tangible assets. The high barriers to copying the project are due to the long physical production timelines and the complexity of balancing the game, as a set of 150 cards can create trillions of combinations, protecting the sector from rapid speculative launches. Meanwhile, FUZZY remains a volatile meme asset, with its price tied to the XRP market, while the retail distribution program through local tabletop game stores is still in the deployment stage.
