Google has officially unveiled a new line of Pixel 11 smartphones, while raising the starting prices by one hundred dollars. This step was a necessary measure against the background of a sharp increase in the cost of memory components, which is putting serious pressure on all manufacturers of mobile devices. The base Pixel 11 model is now priced at eight hundred and ninety-nine dollars, while the Pro and Pro XL versions will start at one thousand ninety-nine and one thousand two hundred and ninety-nine dollars, respectively. In order to partially compensate for the rise in price for end customers, the company decided to equip all three models with an increased amount of internal memory. Now the minimum configuration includes two hundred and fifty-six gigabytes of free storage space for user data. Official sales of new smartphones will begin on the twentieth of August this year.
Google's management warned in advance about the inevitable rise in the cost of new devices due to unprecedented price increases in the memory market. The main reason for the current situation was the global shortage of supply caused by excessive demand from data centers for artificial intelligence. Semiconductor manufacturers are forced to redistribute power, which naturally increases costs for the production of consumer electronics. The new smartphone line is based on the proprietary Tensor G6 processor and the latest Gemini Nano language model. The company's engineers claim that the new chip is capable of processing complex AI tasks directly on the device three and a half times faster. At the same time, energy consumption decreases at a similar rate, which has a positive effect on battery life. The speed of web browsing increased by twenty-five percent, and the launch of heavy applications accelerated by fifteen percent.
The developers have paid special attention to significantly improving the photographic capabilities of the new smartphones. The base Pixel 11 received an enlarged main sensor of forty-eight megapixels with an increased sensitivity of fifty-six percent. Users also have access to the thirty-fold super zoom function for shooting remote objects. The older Pro models are equipped with brand new main sensors and improved telephoto cameras with 100x zoom support. An exclusive feature for the Pro versions is the HiLight system, which is a ring of LEDs around the flash. These indicators provide quick visual notifications of incoming calls and artificial intelligence activity. Smartphones also received incredibly bright displays with peak brightness of up to three thousand six hundred nits and improved scratch protection. All devices will receive operating system updates and security patches for seven years. Buyers of older versions will additionally receive six months of free subscription to the Google AI Pro service.
