The Launch of the Package Function in XRP Ledger Allows for Merging Multiple Transactions

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) has activated the Batch feature on its mainnet, allowing users to combine two to eight transactions into a single operation. The Batch feature was supported by 30 network validators, while 5 opposed it, accounting for approximately 85.7% of validator votes. An XRPL validator named Vet described the new functionality as significant, stating that it opens up possibilities for institutional and retail operations, such as over-the-counter (OTC) trades, delivery-versus-payment settlements, and NFT exchanges.

The Batch feature supports four execution modes, including a setting that allows all actions to be performed simultaneously or individually. According to XRPL documentation, the verification of completed payments does not guarantee that all internal transactions were successful, so developers are advised to check the results of individual transactions to ensure their success.

In addition to the Batch feature, XRPL has separate changes in the lending protocol that introduce closed vaults and the cash accounting method. According to the rules, participating accounts must approve a set of transactions in a multi-account package, preventing the possibility of unilateral approval by participants of private transfers. According to RippleX, commercial projects using Batch are already under contract or in development. Examples include token exchanges between two users or a payout with an accompanying platform fee. RippleX does not name the companies using the Batch feature.

The listing of Evernorth on Nasdaq is planned for October 12 following preliminary approval of stock transactions, and it is expected that the company will have approximately 473 million XRP at the time of the deal's closure.
