The Pi Network team has introduced a major update that will assist over 900,000 users in completing KYC and accessing their migrated balances. According to the project's official blog, after additional verification, it was found that 417,000 users categorized as potential duplicates are not actually duplicates. They will now be able to complete KYC but must meet all other verification requirements.
Another fix concerns 497,000 users whose mainnet balances were inaccessible due to wallets obtained through the Fast-Track process. Such wallets sometimes did not have enough Pi tokens to cover gas fees. The update aimed at resolving these issues is planned to be rolled out within the next week or so. In total, both fixes will assist approximately 914,000 users.
The second major block of updates involves expanding identity verification tools. As part of a month-long test, some users will be offered to undergo several liveness checks and use a palm print as an additional authentication method. The team noted that this method ensures that the user is a real person and does not require showing their face, providing additional privacy. Like other Pi Network updates, this method will be implemented gradually. Additionally, the team has improved resource management based on machine learning to reduce errors in KYC processing, expanded liveness check compatibility with older and low-powered smartphones, and added new resubmission options for users affected by previous issues with Yoti or unsupported documents from Indonesia.
