
The next generation of gaming graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD may not arrive until 2028. These timelines come from well-known insider Kepler_L2, who reported a potential delay of nearly the entire GeForce RTX 60 lineup based on the Rubin architecture and most of the Radeon 10000 series based on the RDNA 5 architecture. According to him, an exception may be one of AMD's chips codenamed AT2, which could be released as early as 2027. This information remains unofficial, and Nvidia and AMD have not disclosed exact launch dates for the new consumer GPUs.
One possible reason for the delay is the high demand for accelerators for artificial intelligence systems. Server solutions require significant manufacturing capacities and large amounts of memory, so the release of gaming components may depend on the availability of corresponding resources. The version suggesting the release of the GeForce RTX 60 in the first half of 2027, previously mentioned in materials from Moore's Law is Dead, contradicts Kepler_L2's information. Meanwhile, AMD's partners have also not provided exact timelines. Some manufacturers previously expected new cards in the second half of 2027, while others allowed for their appearance as early as the beginning of 2028.
According to leaks, the AT2 may become a solution for the upper mid-range segment. It is attributed with 40 compute units and 12 GB of video memory with a 192-bit bus. The expected performance may be roughly on par with the current RTX 5080. Nvidia has already introduced server solutions based on Vera Rubin, but the specifications for consumer graphics cards on this architecture have not yet been disclosed. AMD has also not published details about RDNA 5. Therefore, the stated specifications, memory configurations, and release timelines for the new graphics cards should be regarded as unofficial information.
