Ripple: Asset Managers Prepare for Batch Launch on XRP Ledger

Amid interest from institutional investors, Ripple reports that asset managers are preparing to use the Batch feature on XRP Ledger. This feature allows up to eight internal transactions to be combined into one, enabling related actions to be executed in a single ledger closure. On September 25, version 3.4.1 was released, which fixed vulnerabilities and added the fixBatchV1_2 capability, expected to be activated on October 9, provided validator support is obtained.

The Batch feature can include 2 to 8 internal transactions, allowing related steps to be processed simultaneously and avoiding situations where one party to a transaction is left at a loss. For example, if a fund transfers a tokenized bond deed and receives a dollar token in exchange, Batch can ensure that both actions are either completed or canceled, minimizing the risk of losses. It should be noted that Batch does not create an asset, verify its ownership, or obligate a bank to redeem a payment token.

An important feature is that the successful execution of an external Batch transaction can conceal failed internal transactions if the application does not check their results. This creates potential issues for accounting systems, where a successful status may mislead about the actual movement of assets. The activation of the feature depends on validator support, which is a condition for its successful implementation. Ripple confirms that preparations are underway but does not name specific organizations that have tested this feature in their production environment, raising questions about the actual readiness for its application. Thus, although preparation for the Batch implementation is announced, practical application and testing on real assets are necessary before making more significant conclusions about potential outcomes. The relevance and application of this feature will depend on the readiness of the team, network operators, and current user requirements before the final activation on October 9.
