Samsung инвестирует $1 миллиард в Helix для развития инфраструктуры ИИ

Samsung has announced its intention to invest $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, a company focused on artificial intelligence infrastructure, created by investment firm KKR and launched in June. In a press release published on September 29, Samsung noted that of the specified amount, $500 million will be allocated by Samsung Electronics, with the remaining funds invested by five other Samsung subsidiaries. Helix aims to provide integrated solutions in the development and operation of hyperscale data centers, power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, as well as fiber-optic networks. The press release also emphasizes that the investments for Samsung subsidiaries will allow them to leverage their expertise in hardware and components, expanding their roles from component suppliers to architects of the AI infrastructure ecosystem.

Samsung noted that with these investments, the companies are expected to accelerate the deployment of global AI data centers alongside Helix, as well as maximize synergy between the participating companies. In response, Helix Digital Infrastructure stated that the capital infusion from Samsung adds long-term funds to support the company's strategy for investing in and delivering data centers, power, communications, and related AI infrastructure.

According to Helix, AI requires the creation of a new infrastructure environment. "Hyperscale companies need partners who can help solve increasingly complex infrastructure challenges at scale and speed," the company added. In June, Helix's founders stated that the project would be open to additional suitable institutional investors. According to a Bloomberg report on Friday, Goldman Sachs analysts expect AI infrastructure spending by the five largest US hyperscale companies to reach $1.2 trillion in 2027, significantly increasing from the current $800 billion this year.
