The analytical platform Santiment has recorded an increase in FOMO (fear of missing out) around Ethereum amid negative sentiment towards Bitcoin and XRP. On social media, there are 2.05 bullish comments for every bearish one about Ethereum. This ratio indicates a predominance of optimistic sentiment and a rise in the fear of missing potential profits (FOMO). Market participants are focused on Ethereum's recovery above a key support level, high demand for staking, and positive expectations regarding future network updates. Meanwhile, the situation with Bitcoin looks entirely different: there are only 0.82 bullish comments for every bearish one. Santiment associates the change in sentiment with recent price fluctuations, where Bitcoin's price retreated from the $87,000 level and headed towards $81,000. This decline was marked by massive liquidations of long positions and overall macroeconomic pressure, negatively impacting the perception of assets among traders.
XRP is also under pressure. The ratio of bullish to bearish comments is 0.92. Over the past week, XRP's price has fallen by more than 9%. Liquidations of leveraged positions and difficulties in returning above the $1.40 level have intensified negative sentiment. Santiment believes that the current fear surrounding Bitcoin and XRP may be a more favorable signal for potential price recovery than the excessive optimism regarding Ethereum.
Additionally, analysts at CryptoQuant have witnessed a record share of Binance in Ethereum's open interest since the beginning of 2023. Since the end of September, Ethereum's price has decreased from $2775 to $2500, which is approximately a 10% drop. During the same period, the nominal open interest in Ethereum on Binance decreased by $600 million, also indicating a decline in interest in the asset amid market volatility. Nevertheless, the volume of open interest on the platform remained stable, approximately at the level of 2.46 million ETH.
Binance's share in Ethereum's open interest among the largest centralized exchanges has reached nearly 49%. This is the highest figure since 2023, indicating that almost half of Ethereum's open interest is concentrated on this platform. It has been noted that the growth in open interest share coincided with Binance's licensing issues in Europe, adding another layer of complexity for market participants. Analysts have also previously noted that Solana and Ethereum are the most positively evaluated projects in the current market, which may indicate broader changes in participant sentiment. Thus, there remains a high degree of uncertainty regarding the cryptocurrency market: while Ethereum shows a rise in FOMO, Bitcoin and XRP remain under bearish pressure. This indicates the need for careful monitoring of the situation and adaptation to changes.
