The Shiba Inu community has issued a warning about the presence of several Ethereum tokens using the name and ticker TREAT. A community member, Mazrael, recently pointed out on X that there are more than 366 tokens with the TREAT ticker on Ethereum. "If someone says there are two tokens with this ticker, it's a quiet advertisement for scammers. There are 366 tokens with the TREAT ticker on ETH," – noted Mazrael. Mazrael responded to a post by X user 'BAPA-Fortuna', who highlighted the existence of other tokens with the TREAT ticker. He pointed out two different Ethereum tokens using this name and ticker. The official TREAT token for the Shiba Inu ecosystem exists on Ethereum and Shibarium, and he shared the relevant contract addresses. An old Ethereum token with the name and ticker TREAT was allegedly registered on January 13, 2023, but it is a separate token that should not be confused with the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
The warning urges users to verify contract addresses and never identify a token solely by its ticker. Meanwhile, Shibarium continues to receive quiet updates. This week, Mazrael informed the community that "x402 has been launched on Shibarium." x402 is an open neutral standard for internet payments that enables payments between clients and servers, creating mutually beneficial economies that allow for scalable payments.
x402 provides instant, low-cost payments for digital services and is designed for monetizing APIs, commerce, and paywalled content, as well as any scenarios where traditional payment methods are too slow or expensive. Mazrael shared details of the x402 update: "Permit2, x402 proxy, SignatureValidator – all at the same canonical addresses used by x402 on Ethereum, Base, and Polygon. Any x402 client operates on chain 109 without special code. Most intermediaries work only with USDC; settlements are made via EIP-3009, and USDC is its implementation. The Permit2 route accepts any ERC-20." He also noted that AI agents can pay in SHIB, TREAT, or wrapped BONE.
