Strategy Spent $192.4 Million on STRC Stock Buyback

Strategy continues to actively repurchase its preferred STRC shares, spending $192.4 million from October 5 to 11, 2026. During this period, the company repurchased approximately 1.93 million shares at an average price of about $99.69 per share. In addition to repurchasing STRC shares, the company acquired 250 bitcoins for $21.5 million at an average price of $86,194 per coin, increasing its total holdings to 848,250 BTC. The total cost of the acquired bitcoins amounted to about $64 billion, including fees and other expenses. According to the company's report on October 12, $21 million of the purchase amount came from the sale of Class A shares, trading under the ticker MSTR, and the remaining $500,000 was taken from cash reserves.

Strategy has $4.88 billion in reserve and $640.5 million in free cash – totaling about $5.52 billion. The reserve is intended for paying dividends on preferred shares and interest on debt, while free funds are available for purchasing bitcoins and other corporate purposes. The company also allocated $154.1 million from cash for the repurchase of STRC shares and $13 million for purchasing bitcoins from September 28 to October 4, according to SEC reports. Another $142.5 million from the designated reserve went to dividends and interest on debt for the same period.

CEO Fong Le previously explained the approach to repurchasing preferred shares: management intends to repurchase shares when STRC trades below $100, maintaining a range of about $99–100. In September, Strategy increased the limit of the digital credit securities repurchase program from $1 billion to $2 billion. After the latest operations, the company has $354.8 million of authorized limit left for repurchasing preferred shares. The entire $1 billion is available for the MSTR common stock repurchase program, and there were no repurchases under it during the reporting period.

Executive Chairman Michael Saylor confirmed the purchase on October 12 on X, stating that as of October 11, the company owns 848,250 BTC and approximately $5.5 billion in dollar assets. His post from October 11 read: "There is always room for orange." The average price of all BTC purchases is about $75,450 per coin.

In a separate post on October 12, Saylor reported a dollar asset duration metric of 3.5 years and an STRC Bitcoin credit metric of 52 basis points, assuming a 10% annual BTC return, 40% volatility, and a BTC price of $82,252. These are corporate metrics, not a guarantee of returns or liquidity coverage.

For context: in the week leading up to September 20, Strategy spent $174 million on STRC repurchases and $75.7 million on 950 BTC. From October 1 to 4, it bought 334 BTC for $28.7 million at $85,838.80 each.
