Tesla Exceeds Delivery Expectations in Q3 2026

In the third quarter of 2026, Tesla delivered 486,532 vehicles, which is 5.3% above analysts' consensus (461,974), although deliveries are still approximately 2.1% lower than a year earlier. Production amounted to 464,391 vehicles. The company will present its financial results on October 21 after the market closes: investors will assess profitability, automotive margin, and cash flow.

In September, wholesale sales of Tesla vehicles made in China reached 95,366 units, which is 5% more than a year earlier, and this is the highest of the year. The growth was driven exclusively by exports: overseas deliveries increased by 58% to 30,529 vehicles, while domestic sales fell by 9% to 64,837. The same pattern is observed over nine months: wholesale sales rose by approximately 23% to 743,060 units, exports more than doubled by over 108%, and domestic sales decreased by nearly 12%. Pressure on Tesla in China is increasing from competitors with cheaper models, reduced government incentives, and aggressive pricing in the industry; the company itself has resorted to discounts, which may affect the margin.

Energy storage deployments in the third quarter amounted to 13.7 GWh against expectations of 15.9 GWh. According to the consensus from September 29, annual volumes are expected to be 56.5 GWh in 2026 and 148.8 GWh by 2030. Analysts expect vehicle deliveries to be around 1.77 million in 2026, 1.92 million in 2027, over 2 million in 2028, and about 2.7 million by 2030.

Regarding the Cybercab project: 319 vehicles have been registered in Texas compared to 169 previously, and the fleet in Austin has exceeded 300 vehicles, an eightfold increase in 30 days. However, registrations do not necessarily mean that all vehicles are providing commercial services. Tesla's AI division head Ashok Elluswamy mentioned Dallas as one of the next markets, but there are no launch timelines. Musk stated that the expansion would be gradual, focusing on complex scenarios such as railroad crossings, complex intersections, and limited visibility.
