Trueo announced the transfer of its prediction protocol from Base to the Ethereum mainnet and requested users not to create new markets on Base with expirations after January 31, 2027. As of September 22, the migration is not complete: the project's documentation still lists the contracts TruthMarketManager, OracleCouncil, OracleBonds, OrderManager, and market master on Base, with no Ethereum addresses present. DefiLlama attributes all $796,126.31 of Trueo's locked value to Base, recording $9,727.92 in decentralized exchange volume over the past 30 days.
The project launched on Base in March 2025 and conducts binary 'yes-or-no' markets. The trading is non-custodial, with transactions executed through its own Uniswap v4 module. TYD serves as the payment asset for positions and oracle bonds and will continue to generate revenue during the transition. The application on Base will remain accessible: trading, market resolution, and redemption are operational, and existing markets are available until expiration. New markets with expirations in 2026 can still be created on Base, while those expiring after January 31, 2027, can only be created on Ethereum.
The governance token TRUE will migrate to Ethereum through a perpetual migration window. The timeline and launch date have not been announced. Future staking and liquidity reward programs are planned for Ethereum. The reasons for migration include network effects, liquidity, integrations, and Ethereum's long-term infrastructure, as well as lower execution costs and a less crowded prediction market space on layer one. Base is described as a good choice for the early stage, while Ethereum is better suited for a widely integrated and immutable market.
Vitalik Buterin welcomed the new player on Ethereum on September 21, praising its focus on decentralization and ethical design, calling the project 'not corposlop'. He did not announce any partnership with the Ethereum Foundation, grant, or investment. Previously, Buterin criticized the sector for its focus on short-term bets and sports betting, labeling it as an 'unhealthy product market fit'.
