Bitcoin ETFs Lost $635 Million in October

On Thursday, American spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of $635 million. This pushed October's flows back into negative territory: the cumulative net outflow for the month now stands at $175 million, according to SoSoValue.

The one-day withdrawal was more than enough to offset the $528 million that came in on Wednesday. Moreover, it was the largest single-day outflow since June 25, when Bitcoin ETFs lost $696 million. The outflows also interrupted a three-day inflow streak during which the funds attracted a total of $1.08 billion. Prior to this resumption, the funds had recorded outflows for two consecutive weeks.

Despite the sharp one-day withdrawal, Bitcoin ETFs remain in the black for the week: the net inflow for the week amounted to $443 million. This shows that daily fluctuations have not yet overturned the weekly trend, although October as a whole remains negative.

On Thursday, Bitcoin's price ranged from $80,996 to $82,551 – below Wednesday's intraday high of $84,777. At the time of publication, BTC was trading around $81,783, approximately 1% lower over the last 24 hours, according to CoinGecko.

Altcoin ETFs also predominantly showed negative flows on Thursday. Ethereum funds recorded about $111 million in net outflows – the largest withdrawal among altcoin funds. Solana ETFs lost approximately $9 million, and Hyperliquid (HYPE) funds about $8 million. Against this backdrop, XRP ETFs bucked the trend, attracting around $3.6 million in net inflows.

Thus, the ETF market picture remains mixed: the weekly inflow persists, but the monthly balance has turned negative, and the one-day outflows were the largest in nearly four months.
