CertiK Joins LF Decentralized Trust to Enhance Blockchain Security

CertiK has joined the LF Decentralized Trust initiative, which is part of the Linux Foundation, to contribute to the security of open blockchain projects. CertiK plans to participate in LFDT projects and working groups focused on developing decentralized infrastructures for enterprises and organizations. CertiK noted that security auditing has become a necessary requirement in several major crypto markets, with fines and agreements related to anti-money laundering exceeding $900 million in the first half of 2025. Membership in LFDT was a logical step after CertiK's research team identified five vulnerabilities in the Ethereum Besu client, which were fixed in an update.

CertiK aims to bring its expertise in blockchain security, formal verification, and auditing to the LFDT communities, working alongside enterprises, startups, and technical teams developing compatible decentralized systems. CertiK's CEO and co-founder, Ronghui Gu, emphasized that "security and compliance cannot be treated as isolated activities added at the end of a project's lifecycle; it is this mindset that the current regulatory environment penalizes." He also noted that open, independent, and standards-based infrastructure has become a central part of how enterprises build blockchain systems. LFDT Executive Director Daniela Barbosa added that the contribution of security experts can support the development and implementation of open-source-based projects.

In addition to joining LFDT, CertiK has signed a memorandum with the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic covering the Digital Som project, which includes work related to the security of central bank digital currency, as well as measures to combat money laundering and terrorism financing in the digital assets sector. CertiK provides a wide range of services, including blockchain infrastructure assessments, smart contract audits, formal verification, and regulatory compliance support, since 2017, working with over 5,500 clients.
