Litecoin Jokes About XRP, Supporters Respond with Chart and Price

The official Litecoin (LTC) account, a cryptocurrency for payments, published a clip on X on November 5 with a derogatory remark towards XRP, the token associated with the payment company Ripple. The jab came at an inconvenient time: XRP significantly outpaces Litecoin in both price and market value.

Supporters of XRP responded quickly. One of them flipped the caption of the clip and published a CoinMarketCap chart, a cryptocurrency price tracking service, for three years for both assets. The graph shows XRP noticeably in the positive, while LTC remains below its starting level. Comments noted that Litecoin should not mock XRP while lagging behind it.

Others pointed out that Zcash (ZEC) surpassed Litecoin this year, even though both coins are aimed at digital payments. Grayscale, a digital asset management company, recently named Zcash as the payment coin with the greatest growth potential.

Price data supports the critics. Since the end of 2024, XRP has more than doubled in value and ranks among the five largest cryptocurrencies; it has not left the top 10 since 2014. LTC, on the other hand, is trading more than 85% below its record high of $410 set in May 2021. Earlier this year, the coin fell back to the lows of several market cycles.

The conflict between Litecoin and XRP is not new. In August 2025, the Litecoin account mocked XRP's banking narrative and called Ripple's CEO Brad Garlinghouse "Brad Garlic Mouse." Weeks later, it dismissed the hype around XRP as a "cosmic illusion." The account later claimed it was joking about both Solana and itself but complained that posts about XRP provoke the strongest backlash, including alleged threats of legal action.

For Litecoin, provocations towards XRP at least bring attention. For XRP holders, numbers are more important. Spot ETFs (exchange-traded funds) on XRP in the US attracted investments even on days when Bitcoin and Ether funds were losing money.
