A long-term Bitcoin wallet containing 100 BTC has been activated after 14 years and 9 months of inactivity. The coins were deposited on November 2, 2011 – just a few months after Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto quietly disappeared from the scene and stopped making any announcements. Since the funds were received, they remained untouched.
According to Galaxy Research, the Bitcoins were moved in block 967732, and the address is labeled as "Noah Doe #3113." It is linked to a lawsuit in New York regarding rights to thousands of dormant Bitcoin addresses. In March 2026, a lawsuit was filed in the New York Supreme Court seeking to establish ownership of over 3.7 million BTC associated with 39,069 addresses. The plaintiffs – "Noah Doe" and two unnamed LLCs from Wyoming – requested the court to declare them the owners of these assets, including coins linked to Satoshi Nakamoto. On September 8, the crypto community was watching an important hearing in this case.
The wallet was likely created before the first halving on November 28, 2012: before it, 10.5 million BTC were issued over 210,000 blocks, at 50 BTC per block. An address with exactly 100 BTC may suggest that its owner was an early miner, although there is no confirming evidence yet. According to Galaxy Research, out of 50-BTC Coinbase UTXOs, 172,042 (83.5%) have been spent, with most spent before 2014. There are 33,995 unspent outputs of 50 BTC remaining – about 1.699 million BTC. Of these, 21,922 (1.096 million BTC) are presumed to have been mined by Satoshi Nakamoto – 64.5% of the remaining unspent. At the time of writing, Bitcoin was trading at $80,347.
