The total value locked (TVL) in PancakeSwap increased by nearly 19% over the past week, adding about $380 million in the context of the upcoming trading fee distribution reform. According to DefiLlama, PancakeSwap's TVL reached $2.4 billion on Wednesday, up from approximately $2.02 billion on October 14. The growth was primarily observed in the V3 liquidity pools, where TVL more than doubled from $336 million to $739 million during the specified period. This growth coincided with the opening of voting on the "The Flip" proposal, which will increase the share of liquidity providers in fee collection in the V3 and Infinity pools to 88% compared to 66%-68% in most other pools. The reform also plans to gradually reduce the daily emission of CAKE tokens by approximately 69%, from 22,500 to 7,000 tokens. Voting began on October 21 and will continue until October 24, with implementation expected to begin in November if the proposal is approved.
PancakeSwap holds a leading position in trading on the BNB Chain, considering the trading volume on decentralized exchanges over the past seven days amounted to approximately $4.67 billion, which is about 71% of the network's total volume, according to DeFiLlama. The network also represents a large portion of PancakeSwap's liquidity, which accounts for approximately $2.33 billion of the total TVL of $2.40 billion. The activity occurs against the backdrop of the overall growth of the BNB Chain DeFi ecosystem, where TVL increased by approximately 8.3% over the past seven days to $5.84 billion. Trading volume on decentralized exchanges also increased by 40.2% to $6.54 billion over the same period, despite a 0.6% decrease in the market capitalization of stablecoins to $13.1 billion.
In addition to cryptocurrencies, BNB Chain is also seeing growth in tokenized assets, in which PancakeSwap has an established presence. The decentralized exchange began supporting Binance bStocks tokenized shares in June, allowing users to trade tokenized U.S. stocks on the blockchain. On October 15, Binance announced that bStocks exceeded $1 billion in assets under management approximately four months after launch. The company reported more than $40 billion in cumulative trading volume and noted that 11.2% of the value of bStocks was engaged in DeFi at the beginning of October.
