Skyfire and Forter Simplify Payments for Purchases Made by AI Agents

Skyfire, a provider of identity and payment infrastructure for AI agents, has expanded its partnership with Forter, a trust analytics platform for digital commerce. The goal is to help merchants approve legitimate AI agent purchases while reducing fraud risk. Skyfire's Know Your Agent (KYA) tokens are integrated into Forter's decision-making system, which uses them in the Fraud Management for Agentic Commerce product. According to the companies, the volume of agent orders on the Forter network has more than quadrupled since August.

The problem is that traditional anti-bot systems look for automated activity, and legitimate AI agents purchasing on behalf of consumers give off the same signals. As a result, merchants reject genuine purchases, while fraudsters disguise malicious activity as trusted agent traffic. Differentiating authorized agents from malicious automation increases authorization rates without increasing fraud risk. New signals are embedded into existing data, so there is no need to change checkout interfaces.

Skyfire enables AI agents to transact. Its open KYA protocol supports verified identity for internet access and account creation, tokenized cards, real-time micropayments, and programmable checkout via API, websites, and marketplaces. Investors include Evolution, DCVC, a16z CSX, Coinbase Ventures, Neuberger Berman, and Brevan Howard Digital.

Forter provides trust analytics and payment infrastructure, using AI and a global identity network for real-time solutions at registration, checkout, and returns stages. Clients include Nordstrom, Instacart, and Priceline, as well as nearly a million businesses.

“Our customers are starting to buy through agents, and we don't want to reject a legitimate purchase. Together, Skyfire and Forter help understand who the agent is, who sent them, and whether the transaction can be trusted,” said Jomashop CEO Osger Karnovsky.

“Agentic commerce fails if retailers can't distinguish an authorized buyer from a script posing as one. Forter and Skyfire allow for the verification of both the AI agent's identity and the consumer's reliability,” added Forter CTO Eran Vanounou.

“Modern security systems were not designed to recognize AI agents. Integrating KYA into Forter's solutions gives merchants the ability to distinguish trusted agents from malicious bots,” noted Skyfire co-founder Craig DeWitt.
