Snap Integrates Corporate AI into AR Glasses Specs

Snap has announced partnerships with Salesforce, Nvidia, and Amazon Web Services to expand the use of its augmented reality glasses Specs in the corporate environment. The $2,195 device was introduced by the company in June, focusing on scenarios where employees need to access information and perform tasks without constantly referring to a computer or smartphone. Specs are particularly targeted at manufacturing sites, retail stores, and field service. This approach involves using the glasses directly in the work process: employees will be able to see digital prompts overlaid on the real environment and interact with corporate services using voice commands or other interface elements. Snap also introduced the Specs Intelligence AI service, which is set to become part of this ecosystem.

One of the key partners is Salesforce: its Agentforce platform will be integrated with Specs, allowing employees to access corporate data and automate certain work operations. Nvidia, in turn, will provide AI infrastructure for processing visual information. Thanks to this, the glasses will be able to analyze the surrounding environment and correlate it with the necessary work data. AWS will add its own AI assistant designed for voice interaction. An example given is checking product availability in a store using a voice command. The project also includes corporate software developer Trifork and Hololight, a company specializing in augmented reality solutions. Snap did not disclose the financial terms of these agreements.

The company paid particular attention to connecting the device to mobile networks. The Specs charging case, sold separately or included in the $2,395 package, will support cellular connectivity through Snap's partners, including Verizon in the US, Orange in France, and EE in the UK. The glasses are expected to be delivered this fall in the US, UK, and France. Before sales begin, users will be able to test Specs at the Westfield Century City mall in Los Angeles starting in October. For Snap, the corporate scenario is becoming one of the directions for product development amid competition in the AR device market. The company aims to demonstrate the practical application of the glasses where free hands and access to information directly during work can be more important than the traditional format of interacting with a computer.
