Strategy has resumed buying Bitcoin after a three‑week pause

On September 21, 2026, Strategy, the largest corporate holder of Bitcoin, under the leadership of its co-founder and former CEO Michael Saylor, announced the resumption of purchases of the first cryptocurrency. This time, the company acquired 950 BTC for a total of $75.7 million. The average purchase price was $79,670 per coin. This is the first accumulation by Strategy in the last three weeks: the previous acquisition was announced on August 31, after which the company focused on repurchasing its own shares of STRC.

With the new deal, Strategy's total holdings reached 846,000 BTC. The company spent $63.8 billion on these acquisitions, and the average price across the entire portfolio is $75,416 per unit. In addition to purchasing bitcoins, Strategy repurchased $174 million in STRC shares, and its dollar reserves exceed $6 billion. According to Saylor's post on X, the company acquired 950 BTC and repurchased $174 million in STRC, and as of September 20, 2026, owns 846,000 BTC and $6.09 billion in dollar assets.

The value of Strategy's Bitcoin holdings has risen to $71.7 billion amid the asset's price increase to $84,800. This means the company is in profit of nearly $8 billion. Just a few months ago, the situation was the opposite: at that time, Strategy's unrealized loss exceeded $11 billion. The turnaround was made possible by a sharp rise in Bitcoin in recent weeks.

Today's announcement was unlikely to come as a surprise to the market. The day before, Saylor posted a mysterious message on X, showcasing all the company's purchases over the past six years with the caption "a little more orange" – a hint at the upcoming replenishment of Bitcoin reserves. This is typical of Saylor's communication style with the community: he regularly accompanies purchase announcements with short phrases and symbolic images.
