Strive bought another 6,182 bitcoins, increasing reserves to 43,000 BTC

Strive, trading on Nasdaq under the ticker ASST, acquired an additional 6,182 bitcoins, bringing its total reserve to 43,000 BTC. For the company, whose reserve at the beginning of the year was estimated at approximately 12,800 BTC, this is a sharp increase.

The purchase continued a series: as of mid-October 2026, Strive owned 36,818 BTC with a market value of over $3 billion. In October alone, the company made several purchases totaling more than 4,000 BTC within one week; October purchases cost approximately $335 million at an average price of 82,000–84,500 per coin. The research on which these figures are based notes discrepancies between some declared purchase amounts and the outcomes that Strive officially disclosed: individual tranches do not always align with the declared reserve volume.

How purchases are funded

Buying billions of dollars' worth of bitcoins requires comparable funds, and Strive relied on capital markets rather than operational cash flow. The main sources were the execution of warrants, bringing in about $369 million, and the issuance of preferred shares SATS, which raised another $630 million. These steps are reflected in the 8-K forms filed with the SEC in October: this is how companies report significant events between quarterly reports. The same documents indicate a projected average cost at the upper end of the $80,000 – lower end of the $90,000 range per BTC.

From merger to fourth place

The story began in January 2026 with a merger with Semler Scientific, which brought about 12,800 BTC and immediately provided the company with a ready reserve. Since then, Strive has more than tripled this volume: by mid-October – 36,818 BTC, now – 43,000. This is the fourth place among public corporate bitcoin holders; ahead are Strategy, Metaplanet, and others.

What this means

Preferred shares imply obligations, usually dividends, that need to be serviced regardless of what bitcoin does. If BTC trades below the projected average cost, the reserve on paper goes negative, while obligations continue to accumulate. October purchases at 82,000–84,500 turned out to be below the projected average, indicating higher prices for earlier purchases: the company averaged its position as it increased the reserve.

Due to discrepancies in reporting, investors should focus on SEC documents. They should watch for three things: whether new 8-K forms will appear with details of the cost and financing of these 6,182 BTC; whether the company will continue to raise funds through preferred shares and on what terms; how close it will get to its stated goal of competing with leading holders by the end of the year.
