XRP Ledger: payment surge of 2,633% turned out to be short-lived

Activity in the XRP Ledger surged sharply and then quickly subsided. According to XRPScan, the daily payment volume on October 25 increased by 2,633% to about 137.7 million XRP. The next day, the figure reached 275.5 million, and on October 27, nearly 366 million. By October 28, the volume fell by 45.1% to approximately 200.8 million XRP.

The three-day growth appeared strong, but the average volume over 30 days is 480.6 million XRP, so even the peak remained below the usual monthly level. The annual chart confirms this: over the past twelve months, there have been many sharp spikes, some reaching 2.5 billion XRP per day, with a historical maximum of 7 billion. In this context, the recent surge is not significant; it seemed large only because it started from a very low base.

The price picture

The price chart shows the same weakness. XRP is trading around $1.33: after rising to about $1.65 at the end of September, the coin fell below $1.30 in mid-October and has only slightly rebounded since. The price is stuck below a cluster of moving averages: the orange line around $1.33 acts as the first barrier, above which the black and blue lines are positioned between $1.36 and $1.38, forming a more complex zone. Until XRP closes above this area, the trend remains weak.

Trading volume confirms the picture: it has been steadily declining since the early October sell-off, and recent candles show little buyer interest. RSI is around 48 – a neutral zone, without strength and without panic. Network data indicates that buyers did not follow the activity surge: the price remained flat while on-chain metrics rose, and then both indicators cooled off.

Support is around $1.25, where buyers came in twice in October. If it breaks, the next area to watch is $1.10. On the upside, to change the picture, XRP needs to close above $1.38 with strong volume. While the headline about 2,633% looks impressive, it means little: the market did not show the continuation needed to turn a brief surge into a sustainable trend.
