CME Group Announces Futures for Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap

CME Group will add futures for Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Uniswap (UNI) to its list of crypto derivatives on October 19, pending regulatory approval. The exchange confirmed the contracts on Tuesday. Following the announcement, the price of UNI increased by approximately 5%, while BCH rose by nearly 10%. Each coin will be traded in both standard and smaller micro sizes for traders looking to gain less exposure per contract.

A futures contract allows trading on the token's price or hedging risks without owning the token itself. CME is overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) – the regulator for derivatives in the U.S. Many banks, hedge funds, and asset managers cannot trade on offshore crypto exchanges, making the CME contract often their only way to access the coin.

Standard contracts will cover 10,000 UNI or 250 BCH, while micro contracts will cover 1,000 UNI or 25 BCH. At current prices, one standard UNI contract represents approximately $90,000, and the BCH contract is around $69,000. CME already manages a significant business in this area. According to the first half of 2026, the average daily trading volume for crypto contracts on the exchange was 279,800, equivalent to $8.3 billion in nominal value. Previously, CME launched futures for Cardano, Chainlink, and Stellar in February and transitioned to 24/7 cryptocurrency trading in May.

Giovanni Visiozo, Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products at CME Group, described the new additions as a response to demand from institutional investors. "As the crypto market continues to evolve, participants need broader and regulated tools to manage price risks associated with digital assets," he said.
